2024.
What a year.
A lot happened this year, the podcast expanded a bit, I went on a tour, took tons of photos, did some interviews, met people, hung out.
I really don’t even know where to start honestly. I’m starting this review going to my first photo album of the year that I posted on the B-Pro Photography page, which was seeing Repentance at Reggie’s to kick off the year way back in January. Reggie’s was a pretty cool venue. It was my first time shooting there on the club, and then over the summer I had to opportunity to shoot at Reggie’s again, this time on the bar side, when Helion Prime came through Chicago.
Shooting shows in Chicago is always a great time. I didn’t shoot as many places in Chicago this year as I had wanted to, but there are plenty of iconic venues I have yet to shoot. Hopefully 2025 will allow me to shoot at places like the Cobra Lounge, Aragon Ballroom, and all the others. I got to shoot Nervosa over in Iowa City at a venue called Wildwood. Very cool place, and Nervosa puts on a hell of a show.
There have been many photos I took that I just haven't had a chance to get to yet. Hopefully 2025 lets me catch up on all of those photos, and even some videos I have yet to finish editing.
The big thing this year though, was going on tour with my friends in St. October. We did 7 shows over 11 days in the UK. We hit Guildford, Gravesend, London, Cardiff, Manchester, Nottingham, and Birmingham. The coolest of those, and the ones that produced my favorite photos were from Sarcomafest. Which is a festival that has been held for over 10 years, and has raised over £20,000 dedicated to Sarcoma research in the UK!
Those shows were all amazing. Worst part though was that every venue was upstairs, and no elevators or anything. Luckily the amount of gear that we all brought with was kept to the essentials. We crammed 11 people into a van, with all the gear, for these treks. Some of them were quite long for our UK friends, with some over 2+ hours. Here in the Midwest that’s just part of running into the city. Over there, for some people it’s an overnighter. Longest trip was Cardiff to Manchester at about 4 hours long.
The UK was wonderful, many pictures and videos I have yet to edit are from the UK. So many great bands that we got to get to know, and befriend. All of us came home from the UK with all new members of our family.
2024 was a pretty good year. I got to grow B-Pro Photography into a little larger entity, and we’ve done some good stuff with expanding the podcast as well. 2025 is going to be a big year for VIMH. We have lots coming down the pipeline with interviews, maybe some type of set change, photos, we have lots going on behind the scenes that we can’t wait to show you!
